Cooperation with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA)

In February of 2019 the European Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction submitted a proposal for a technical assistance project (EU4 Monitoring Drugs project 2019-2021) for the EU Eastern and Southern Partner Countries, including Armenia, funded by the European Commission.

The duration of the project is 36 months, the budget is 3 million euros. The aim of the project is to get a better understanding of the situation of the drug illegal circulation and risk assessment mechanisms in the EU partner countries, to promote the capacity building and regional cooperation of partner countries.

Within the framework of the project implementation, on March 25-29, the EMCDDA expert group met with the representatives of the competent and interested bodies involved in the fight against drugs addiction, drugs and psychotropic substances as well as with representatives of Security Council Office of RA.

On July 3 of 2019, the EU4 Monitoring Drugs program consultative committee held its first meeting in Brussels, attended by Arman Ghazaryan, Head of the State Security and Public Security Division of the Security Council, who was appointed as contact person by the Secretary of the Security Council at the Advisory Committee.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the drug market, supplies, health threats and security issues in the EU and partner countries, as well as the measures to deepen cooperation within the framework of the program.
