New Year Message of the SC secretary

Proud citizens of the Republic of Armenia, my dear compatriots,
In a few hours the year of 2018 will become history.
The passing year became a new phase on the way of democratization and construction of statehood in Armenia. In the course of one year Armenia witnessed a velvet, non-violent revolution, unprecedented fair and transparent national elections, real struggle against corruption and organized crimes. With all this we demonstrated the fact that there is no alternative way leading to a democratic state with the rule of law for the Republic of Armenia and its proud citizens.
The passing year was characterized by the logic of internal developments, which meant a process of recovery. For the first time in the last 20 years parliamentary elections acquired political significance and promoted the revival of public and political life. For the first time in Armenia opposition ascended to power and undertook the responsibility for the country’s future imparting a new quality to the political sphere.
Among numerous other improvements the year of 2019 is to be a year of qualitative betterment in the field of national security and institutional development, so the National Security Council and its staff have to do a lot in this direction.
I am glad to note that despite all the difficulties and challenges of 2018 we succeeded in achieving general political stability, high level of security and economic growth. I am confident that this reality together with the settlement of Karabakh conflict and other urgent regional problems will allow us to solve, in the nearest future, a bevy of problems we have inherited, and build an actually developing and powerful state.
My dear compatriots, I warmly congratulate you on the occasion of the New Year and Christmas. Let the coming year of 2019 be a year of peace, development, happiness and fruitful work.
