On December 21, the Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan gave an interview to the Public Television.

During the interview, referring to the visit to the United States, the Secretary of the Security Council emphasized that regional security issues, the process of democratization of Armenia, which includes a security component, as well as several issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation, including the green economy and US economic assistance to Armenia were discussed during the meeting with Jake Sullivan. In addition to the topics mentioned above, Armen Grigoryan presented to Jake Sullivan Armenia's approaches and positions on regional developments, unblocking, delimitation and demarcation, and the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Touching upon the Armenian-Turkish relations, the Secretary of the Security Council stressed that there is still no agenda for starting the negotiations. The Secretary considered understanding the parties' positions around the negotiating table as a priority in this context.

Referring to the thoughts expressed during the recent congress of the Republican Party of Armenia on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, Armen Grigoryan stressed that it was during Serzh Sargsyan's presidency that Nagorno Karabakh's right to self-determination was to some extent excluded from the negotiation documents. In particular, the first and second points of the 2011 Kazan document were about the right to self-determination and interim status; however, in the 2016 documents, there was no question of self-determination in the action plan.
