23 / 07 / 2020
The Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan spoke about the main threats defined in the new National Security Strategy, the use of the Occam’s razor in assessing the predictability of Azerbaijan's actions, about viewing Artsakh in line with the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia as a fundamental national interest, also about testing the principles and provisions defined in the New National Security Strategy, particularly the fact of being the guarantor of its own security, the high resilience of the public administration system, the All-Armenian approach as a fundamental principle of foreign policy in the pavilion of CivilNet.
Referring to the new National Security Strategy and the threats defined in it, the Security Council Secretary noted; “The Strategy was published on the 10th of July and in two days the Azerbaijani provocations started. The Strategy is being tested in a certain sense, for us to find out how much it reflects reality, and I can say that it fully reflects. The Strategy states that Azerbaijan continues to be the primary threat to the national security of Armenia. In addition, Turkey’s support to Azerbaijan is a threat as well. The principles defined in the Strategy also found their expression during the Tavush events. For example, one of our foreign policy principles is the All-Armenian approach, and we witnessed how the conflict gave rise to other clash points beyond our borders.”
Speaking about the latest regional developments and about Turkey, the Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said; “Armenian-Russian strategic allied relations play an important role in restraining Turkey in the region as well. We can see that Turkey takes this fact into consideration as well, and shows certain restraint in his statements. In addition, there is a need to enhance our defence capabilities.”
