Interview in the Pavilion of “Yerkir Media”

31 / 07 / 2020

The Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan spoke about the policy of Azerbaijan and its predictability, the Tavush events, the new National Security Strategy and other security issues in the pavilion of “Yerkir Media.”

Speaking about the Tavush events the Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said; “Some attempts are being made to separate the army and the political authorities. There is no war where the army fights alone. Moreover, such it should not be allowed. The solid work of the entire government system is clear. When the public is calm and there is trust, it definitely changes the environment. The whole system of government is responsible for the politico-military situation: the work was joint." Referring to the issue of not convening a meeting of the Security Council during the events in Tavush, the Secretary of the Security Council said; "There was no need for a Security Council meeting, because the whole process was successful, there was no need to add one more link. When there is good governance, there is no need to add an extra link. ”

Referring to the new National Security Strategy the Security Council Secretary noted; “This Strategy should not be viewed as a separate document, and there will certainly be actions stemming from it. At present we are developing a strategy at the cybersecurity sector. The Strategy is not for details, it should be read entirety. The Prime Minister's message is part of the Strategy. About twenty-three agencies participated in the development of the strategy for about a year. There were almost daily discussions. Even in the conditions of the pandemic, the work continued.”

Speaking about the new National Security Strategy Armen Grigoryan said; “There are two approaches to developing national security strategies. The first says that it should intervene in the activities of the sectors mentioned in it [education, science, culture] and securitize them. We approached it from the opposite perspective. We do not think that the goal of the National Security Strategy is to deal with education, health and culture issues. We think how these sectors can contribute to security. We will never securitize those sectors.”
