A working meeting with the delegation of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces

On February 12, the Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan received the delegation of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces.
Welcoming the members of the delegation, the Secretary presented the functions of the Security Council and its Office at the same time highlighting the importance of the role of the democratic institutions in the security sector, the necessity of the implementation of the principles of democracy and transparency in the context of sector reforms.
Referring to the upcoming process of the development of a new national security strategy, A. Grigoryan reaffirmed his position about the involvement of the Parliament and the civil society in those activities.
Also a reference was made to a number of issues related to the implementation of parliamentary oversight mechanisms and the increase of the accountability of the power structures.
