
Memorandum of Understanding between the Staff of the National Security Council and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction was signed

On 16 July in Yerevan, Acting Chief of Staff of the National Security Council Aram Tananyanand Director of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction Wolfgang Goetz signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Staff of the National Security Council and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, which is also actively cooperating with non EU-countries establishing its branches in those countries.
The memorandum was signed for 5 years with the condition of further extension.
The aim of signing Memorandum is the establishment of cooperation between the relevant agencies of the Republic of Armenia and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction for the issues of collecting, processing, analyzing dates of drugs, as well as improve the methods of monitoring of the illicit use and turnover of drugs (including drug trafficking), a joint response to the issues of illicit drug turnover, to develop and improve indicators and systems of the assessment of the situation.
Within the framework of the Memorandum a special attention will be paid to the appearing new types of drugs and psychotropic substances in the drug market, as well as the exchanging of the information of their production technology.
Within the cooperation are also planned to organize training courses, bilateral meetings, mutual visits of experts and to implement joint programs.
