A meeting with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Today, Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia Armen Grigoryan met with Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ufa, the Russian Federation within the framework of the 10th annual meeting of high-ranking security officials.
This was the first meeting of the SC Secretaries of the two countries. The parties noted with satisfaction that the Armenian-Iranian relations are at a high level and there is a development tendency on their agenda.
Secretary Armen Grigoryan emphasized the fact of the recent ratification of the temporary free trade zone agreement with the EAEU in the Iranian Majles noting that it can be a good stimulus for the further development of the bilateral trade and economic relations.
During the meeting Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan invited his Iranian counterpart to Yerevan and received a mutual invitation.
The parties touched upon the existing cooperation in the fields of energy, security, food and infrastructure and the necessity of its expansion.
Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan attached special importance to Iran's balanced approach to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to which Ali Shamkhani responded that the establishment of peace in the region and deepening of the cooperation are important for Iran.
Ali Shamkhani presented the state of the implementations of the decisions made as a result of the RA Prime Minister’s visit to Iran.
