
Armenia attaches importance to the full implementation of the “Mars” factory and the Mergelyan Institute

Today, within the framework of the visit to the Russian Federation, Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan had a number of bilateral meetings. First, the meeting of the NSC Secretary with President of the Rostelecom OJSC Sergey Kalugin took place.
Issues related to the extending of the activities conducted recently by the Rostelecom in Armenia, in particular, issues related to the implementation of the points of the protocol signed on the results of the negotiations in the course of the visit of S. Kalugin to Yerevan on October 3-4 of this year, were discussed. Positively evaluating the existing results of the cooperation, the parties agreed to continue their efforts to deepen it. Then Artur Baghdasaryan met with Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Alexander Fomin. The participants of the meeting expressed satisfaction with the activeness of the Armenian-Russian contacts in the mentioned sphere. The importance of the implementation of the agreements reached at the 8th session of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation held in Yerevan on 25-29 of this year was emphasized. The NSC Secretary noted that the agreement signed between the two countries on the development of the military-technical cooperation will play a key role in achieving a qualitatively new level of cooperation in the military-industrial complex. The agreement was ratified by the Armenian side on December 4 of this year. The parties also discussed the possibilities of developing bilateral cooperation in a number of new and perspective directions of the military-industrial sphere. At the meeting with Chairman of the Board of Directors of AFK Sistema Vladimir Yevtushenkov, the parties discussed issues related to the development projects of "Mars" CJSC factory and "Yerevan Scientific Research Institute of Mathematical Machines" CJSC Enterprises transferred to the Russian side under the “Property for Debt” Agreement. The NSC Secretary noted that the Armenian side attaches importance to the full implementation of the mentioned enterprises in the long run. The parties believe that the successful implementation of this process will allow deepening the Armenian-Russian allied cooperation both in the economic and military-industrial spheres.
