On September 13, 2013, Secretary of the National Security Council A. Baghdasaryan had a meeting with Secretary General of the European External Action Service Mrs. Helga Schmid.

Issues related to the situation created after Armenia's decision to join the Customs Union, regional security, further development of the cooperation with the European Union and the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict were discussed at the meeting. Secretary of the National Security Council A. Baghdasaryan noted that the decision to join the Customs Union was made taking into account the national interests of Armenia. At the same time A. Baghdasaryan highlighted the importance of the continuation of the dialogue with the European Union, noting that Armenia appreciates the reforms that have been implemented in the country with the EU support and is still expecting continuing cooperation in all key areas. The meeting took place in a warm and memorable atmosphere.
