
Upcoming Armenia-CSTO cooperation programs were discussed

On November 16-18, within the framework of the visit of the delegation led by Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan to the Russian Federation, Arthur Baghdasaryan met with the Minister of Civil Defense, Emergency Situations and Natural Disasters Sergey Shoigu. RA Minister of Emergency Situations A. Yeritsyan also participated in the meeting. The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation in the field of emergency situations. An agreement was reached to jointly develop an action plan for 2012-2013, with a list and timetable for deepening cooperation. During the meeting the sides also discussed the issues of amending the existing agreements on the basis of modern approaches and the legal framework. Afterwards, a roundtable discussion on "Armenia Cooperation within the CSTO" was held at the headquarters of the Collective Security Treaty Organization with the participation of the Armenian delegation, representatives of the RF National Security Council, CSTO units and experts. The Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO V. Semerikov made a report and highly appreciated the active involvement of the Republic of Armenia within the CSTO, stressing the importance of the active cooperation between Armenia and the CSTO. In his report, NSC Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan summarized the activities carried out by the Republic of Armenia within the framework of the CSTO and its future plans.
The participants of the roundtable also discussed issues related to the preparation of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force exercise to be held in the Republic of Armenia in 2012. Yeritsyan also delivered a speech at the Round Table program, touching upon the work carried out by Armenia within the framework of the CSTO and the prospects of expanding and deepening cooperation in this field.
