Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan received today a delegation led by Andrea Fontana, head of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation-European Assistance. Mr․ Fontana welcomed progress in a number of areas, including progress in negotiations on the Association Agreement and integrated border management processes. He also stressed the importance of the activities of the EUAG consultants involved in a number of state structures of the Republic of Armenia. Mr. Fontana informed that the process of providing EU financial assistance to Armenia for the next two years within the framework of the National Indicative Program is in process; which is mainly implemented on the basis of the recommendations of the RA state agencies and in the order of priority according to the areas that need EU assistance. As Chairman of the Interdepartmental Committee on Coordination of Cooperation of RA State Bodies with European Structures, NSC Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan assessed the current process of development of Armenia-EU relations as effective. He noted that the 2009-2011 Armenia-EU Action Plan of the European Neighborhood Policy is coming to an end, and a new 2012-2014 program is already under development. This comprehensive document should derive from the Eastern Partnership Reform Promotion Strategy in the Republic of Armenia, and will include recommendations from EU consultants and experts, as well as from the RA state agencies.
