Nubarashen pesticide burial ground issue to be resolved

In pursuance of the agreements reached during NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan’s visit to the Republic of Poland in early November, the delegation of Polish company Ecotec, led by chairman Dominic Voevudka is on a three-day visit to Armenia. This is the largest company in the territory of the European Union which is specialized in processing of hazardous materials and elimination of pesticides.

The parties discussed issues related to neutralization of Nubarashen pesticide burial ground and other similar issues in Armenia. Artur Baghdasaryan said the issue of elimination of existing pesticides in Nubarashen as well as in other populated areas was important from the environmental point of view. Dominic Voyevudka presented the capacities of his company and experience in addressing such issues and stated that non-neutralization of hazardous materials would pose serious dangers.
The parties agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Company Ecotec and the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Armenia to be followed by activities aimed at neutralization of pesticide burial grounds.
