_Parties reached concrete agreements to deepen cooperation

Poland meetings of the NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan’s delegation continue.

Today, the President of the Republic of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski received Artur Baghdasaryan. Expressing his gratitude for the reception Artur Baghdasaryan extended warm greetings of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and his official invitation to Armenia. Bronislaw Komorowski accepted the invitation with pleasure and will visit Armenia in 2011.
Artur Baghdasaryan also expressed gratitude for recognizing the Armenian Genocide and for a balanced approach in the NK conflict regulation. Highlighting the fact that Armenians have for centuries played important role in the cultural, economic life of the Republic of Poland the President mentioned that recognition of genocides is important in order to prevent their recurrence, and relations built on peace and cooperation are of great value in the 21st century.
At the meeting, the parties also made reference to Armenia-Poland political cooperation issues. The Polish President expressed willingness to support the process of implementation of the reforms in the framework of Armenia-EU cooperation and attached importance to the “Eastern Partnership” program.
As regards signing of the cooperation agreement between the National Security Council of the Republic of Armenia and the National Security Bureau of the Republic of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski underlined the importance of regular consultations on security matters between Armenia and Poland, which will help to better comprehend each others’ approach in addressing security challenges.
Artur Baghdasaryan also met with the Polish Minister of Interior and Administration Adam Rapatski. The parties agreed that the Police structures of the two countries were to cooperate in a number of directions. As a result, a cooperation agreement will be signed between the Armenian Police and the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration in the near future. The delegation of the Ministry of Interior and Administration will be visiting Armenia to look at on-going broad reforms in the police sector in Armenia and to discuss opportunities of implementing joint projects.
It was agreed also to deepen cooperation between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia and the Ministry of Interior and Administration. Signing of a cooperation agreement is envisaged.
At a meeting with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Poland Bogdan Klich the parties discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation in the defense field. Due to the agreements reached, the Polish side will support defense reforms implemented in Armenia in the framework of cooperation with NATO and European Union. Armenian and Polish officials and expert groups dealing with defense strategic reforms will exchange visits. Another concrete arrangement between Armenia and Poland related to deepening of cooperation in the military-industrial field.
Artur Baghdasaryan also visited FRONTEX. As border security strategy has recently been approved in Armenia, an agreement was reached with Ilkka Laytine, General Director of the Agency to start cooperation between Armenia and FRONTEX leading to signing of an agreement of technical cooperation.
