
Armenia-Belarus co-operation in the military-industrial domain to intensify

The delegation led by Stanislav Zas, Deputy State Secretary of the National Security Council of the Republic of Belarus is currently on a 3-day working visit in Armenia.
Today, the private conversation between NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan and Stanislav Zas was followed by extended working discussions.
The interlocutors discussed many issues in relation to bilateral cooperation between two counties’ National Security Councils and cooperation in the framework of CSTO.
Artur Baghdasaryan praised current developing cooperation within CSTO and said that collective measures are undertaken aimed at enhancing cooperation and activities, including military-technical bilateral co-operation, exchange of information in the field of security, training and specialization for the personnel of law-enforcement bodies and Ministries of Emergency Situations, and cooperation between these bodies.
Stanislav Zas attached importance to the existing practice in the framework of CSTO which assumes formulation of initiatives on inter-state level and presentation by one of the participants in the CSTO format discussions.
The parties also noted that an effective cooperation is developing in the framework of Cooperation Memorandum, signed by the Security Councils. According to the agreements between the Security Council Secretaries the cooperation is effectively developing between Armenia’s and Belarus Security Councils. In addition, practical measures are undertaken to deepen cooperation in the military-industrial domain. The parties discussed the possibilities of creating joint ventures, implementation of joints projects and opportunities of mutual support.
In accordance with the agreement between the Security Councils of Armenia and Belarus reached in Brest in September, the Committee of the CSTO Security Council Secretaries had adopted a decision to elaborate an interstate targeted program on technical re-equipment of special subdivisions of rapid reaction forces. At the meeting the parties agreed to implement concrete steps to implement the decision. Respective responsible persons from Armenian and Belarus sides were put in charge to oversee the implementation of agreements.
The guests noted that their impressive meetings with the Ministries of Defence and Economy had outlined wide opportunities of cooperation.
The delegation, comprised of heads of large military-industrial enterprises as well, visited Armenian military-industrial enterprises, got familiar with their capacities and reached concrete agreements for cooperation.
