
NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan received Robert Simons

NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan received the delegation led by Robert Simons, Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General in the Caucasus and Central Asia.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the implementation of actions foreseen for 2009 under the Armenia-NATO "Individual Partnership Action Plan". Upon request of the guest Artur Baghdasaryan introduced the activities implemented to materialize the program. Highlighting the importance of deepening of Armenia’s cooperation with European and Euro-Atlantic structures and institutions, Baghdasaryan informed that reforms are implemented in the spheres of defence, justice, emergency situations, healthcare and within law-enforcement bodies according to the IPAP. Importance was attached to the creation of a center for crisis management in Armenia, provision of border security, creation of relevant infrastructures and further strengthening of Armenia-NATO cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
Robert Simons expressed satisfaction in relation to the implementation of the plan of actions and praised the progress registered.
The sides also touched upon regional issues. Robert Simons mentioned that NATO supports the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations and the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
