National strategy for transport security to be elaborated in Armenia

The working group on the development of national strategy for transport security system held its first sitting today chaired by NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan.

The development and adoption of the strategy is determined by the “National Security Strategy” and the Armenia-EU cooperation program.
Artur Baghdasaryan noted that the adoption of the strategy is of exceptional political and economic importance taking into account the recent regional development trends and the prospect of Armenia-Iran railway and highway construction. The objective of national strategy for transportation security is to ensure the high level of civil transportation and cargo transportation systems, to improve the reliability of regional infrastructures and to create a transportation security system in conformity with international standards.
By a decision adopted at the session, the draft of the strategy will be submitted to the National Security Council for approval. Later, the RA government will implement a five-year program of action according to Armenia-EU cooperation program.
