Procuracy in line with EU standards

The working group on procuracy reforms held its first session today, chaired by NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan, Chairman of the inter-agency commission coordinating Armenia’s cooperation with European structures.

The objective of the procuracy reforms is to invest in Armenia the existing procuracy standards of the EU member-states, as required by the Armenia-EU cooperation program.
In terms of further enhancement of independence, impartiality, training, specialization, appointment, promotion and other procuracy procedures Artur Baghdasaryan stressed the importance of the implementation of procuracy reforms in conformity with international standards.
Corresponding legal amendments will be adopted for the procuracy system to harmonize with EU standards. A joint system of training and specialization for judges and procurators candidates, as well as for judges and procurators, judiciary and procuracy personnel will be introduced.
By a decision adopted at the sitting, a reforms program will be developed through the study of European best practices and submitted for approval in accordance with the established procedure.
