Armenia-Italy relations rise to new level

Italy visit of the delegation of the NSC Secretary continues. On February 23, the NSC Secretary met with Andrea Ronchi, Minister for European Affairs.

The minister, coordinating the EU-Italy cooperation, highly valued the Armenia-EU 2009-2011 Action Plan and expressed willingness to support the reforms in Armenia. Parties came to an agreement to discuss the particular ways and methods of cooperation and co-support during the minister’s delegation visit to Armenia in summer.
At his meeting with the representatives of Armenian community in Italy Artur Baghdasaryan informed that Armenian-Italian relations rise to a new level, and meetings with various Italian officials have been constructive and practical. The NSC Secretary stressed that an active dialogue with Italy and Italy’s support towards Armenia in the European integration process will greatly contribute to bring Armenia-EU cooperation to a new level.
Artur Baghdasaryan answered the questions of the Italian-Armenians generally related to NK conflict regulation and Armenian Turkish relations.
On February 24, the NSC Secretary met with Edmondo Chairelli, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defence and Security Issues of the Representatives’ Palace of Italy. A broad range of security and defence related issues was discussed. Edmondo Chairelli informed that a delegation visit to the region is expected in the near future to discuss the enhancement of security and defence cooperation.
