Today, NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan received the delegation led by Ali Bagheri, Deputy Secretary of the National Security Supreme Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The three-day visit of the delegation is in the framework of the agreements reached during Artur Baghdasaryan’s visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. A broad range of issues on Armenia-Iran cooperation enhancement was discussed with an emphasis to view these issues in regional, as well as international relations context. The parties shared the opinion that the two counties have a great potential for cooperation.
The two sides discussed other issues related to Tehran’s involvement in the construction of Armenia-Iran railway, oil pipeline and Yerevan-Batumi highway. The parties underlined the necessity to bring Armenia-Iran relationships to a strategic level.
Artur Baghdasaryan and Ali Bagheri expressed the importance of practical measures to realize all the arrangements and mentioned that the special committee to be formed between the National Security Councils of two countries will make great contributions in this respect.
Artur Baghdasaryan extended his invitation to the Iranian colleague for an official visit to Armenia in 2009.
