The regular session of the CSTO Security Council Committee Took Place in Yerevan
17 / 06 / 2022
On June 17, the regular session of the CSTO Security Council Committee chaired by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, took place in Yerevan. Measures to neutralize the security challenges and threats of the CSTO member states and issues of priority on joint anti-terrorist operations in the CSTO region were discussed in a narrow and expanded format.
In the context mentioned above, the Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, spoke about the security environment created in the South Caucasus. A. Grigoryan noted that the region is still full of challenges, conditioned by the unsettled Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and the Nagorno Karabakh problem. The Secretary of the Security Council also presented Armenia's views and approaches to stabilizing the security situation in the region and neutralizing the existing challenges.
A. Grigoryan considered the violation of the ceasefire regime by Azerbaijan inadmissible, specifying the case of violation of the ceasefire regime by the Azerbaijani troops on May 28, as a result of which a serviceman of the RA Armed Forces was killed.
Touching upon the unblocking of regional communication channels, the Secretary of the Security Council noted that Azerbaijan, from time to time, raises the issue of opening a so-called "transport corridor" through the territory of Armenia. A. Grigoryan once again emphasized that there can be no transport route in the territory of the Republic of Armenia by corridor logic. He also stressed that there is no mention of corridors, according to all the trilateral statements of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan (November 9, January 11-November 21).
Speaking about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, noted that the conflict had not been resolved yet, and a comprehensive solution to the issue should be given within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing.
At the end of the meeting, by the decision of the CSTO Security Council secretaries, the joint training plan for 2023 of the CSTO Collective Security Forces and management bodies and formations was approved.
The decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council to give the status of permanent CSTO operations to the "Nayomnik" operative-preventive operation was approved, which will be submitted to the approval of the country's leaders.
