On September 19-24, within the framework of countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD), the authorised personnel of the Armenian state administration system participated in a field training implemented in Armenia jointly with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense and coordinated by the Armenian Security Council.
The purpose was to explore Armenia’s capabilities and response mechanisms to the spread of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats (CBRN). The exercise was unprecedented for the Republic of Armenia both in the number of included structures and in the geography of inclusion.
10 bodies of the state administration system are responsible for responding to the directions of the CBRN involved in the exercise. 6 different scenarios aimed at the assessment of the prevention of emergency situations caused by the factors of HCMC, as well as the assessment of the ability to respond to these situations were played.
The analysis based on the exercise will provide an opportunity to comprehensively evaluate the current situation related to the response to the incidents of CBRN, to identify the strengths and weaknesses, and as a final goal, to implement the strengthening of RA's response capabilities to CBRN incidents.
