PRESIDENT SERZH SARGSYAN INVITED A MEETING OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL

Today, the President of Armenia, Chairman of the National Security Council Serzh Sargsyan invited a meeting of the National Security Council.

The agenda comprised the Strategy of Biological Safety issue and other issues. The members of the Council discussed and approved the draft of the Strategy of Biological Safety which was presented by the Minister of Health Armen Muradian.
Substantiating the necessity of adopting the mentioned above strategy, the Minister underscored that it stems from the need to properly coordinate activities carried out in the area of biological safety, implementation of relevant legal regulations, political priorities and clear-cut formulation of the safety principles, as well as from the imperative to carry out a long-term state policy in line with the internationally stipulated safety requirements and increased efficiency of the measures aimed at countering biological threats. The main purpose of the Strategy is to improve and strengthen the biological safety structure to offset threats from inside and outside as well as to decrease risks of the impact of biological threat for individuals, population at large, and the ecosystem.
