24 / 06 / 2019
Chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia held today a regular meeting.
Addressing the Security Council members, the Prime Minister stated, in part: “I should note that unfortunately the security situation around Armenia has been deteriorated since our previous meeting. The recent developments in our region are prompting us to be more vigilant in the face of the emerging security challenges. Today’s agenda features topical issues related to the regional situation, and the decisions to be taken following debate should help us properly manage the emerging security challenges. I am confident that we will be able to find the necessary tools to avoid additional risks for Armenia.
Of course, ensuring enhanced security for the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh is the most serious priority for the Government. And in this regard, we must discuss and address not only medium-term, but also strategic objectives. Such discussions are being held not only in the Security Council format, but also in the political circles, during working discussions and government meetings, but of course, the Security Council is the body where the results of these discussions should be generalized and turned into practical results and solutions. I wish our meeting successful proceedings, so that we could have a general idea and a roadmap for implementing all those decisions that we will make today.”
A wide range of security-related issues were discussed during the meeting.
